The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical branch of the universal Christian Church.  We work in the community offering practical and spiritual support to assist people to live their lives to their potential.  Our Sth Qld Division is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to play a vital role in Coordinating the Resident Recovery Program located at Spring Hill. 

This role will have you reporting to the Director of Operations - Pindari Services, and through the Mission and Values of the Salvation Army, coordinate and oversee the provision of participant recovery support services through recovery wellness planning and associated activities for participants to achieve more suitable housing, experience improved social inclusion and be equipped to live successfully in the community.  Support members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive recovery focused support, programs and activities to adult individuals who experience moderate to severe episodes of mental illness.

To be successful in this position you will have the following skills and experience:-

  • An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Direct lived experience of overcoming adversity in life and the ability to use said experience in working alongside people
  • Sound knowledge of the mental health recovery framework.
  • Qualifications within mental health (non-clinical), community services, social work or similar discipline, or extensive relevant experience with a minimum of Certificate IV qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the implementation of mental health recovery based supports and systems for disadvantaged and/or complex needs clients.
  • Minimum 2-3 years supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Experience working in collaboration with other organisations to develop and tailor programs to meet participant' needs.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Current drivers' licence.
  • Willingness to undertake a police check.
  • Evidence of further professional development and extensive knowledge in legislative requirements that govern this type of environment.
