Townsville Recovery Services Centre Part-time (15.2 hours per week) The Salvation Army is one of this country's most loved organisations. The Role: Assist Case Workers to provide a comprehensive client service to participants of the Bridge Program in accordance with procedures and The Salvation Army mission. The Key Responsibilities: - To offer appropriate support and assistance to clients in a collaborative client focussed approach aimed at empowering and working with participants to effectively meet individual needs, including assessment, admissions, relationship building, development of community support and support plans and Centrelink requirements.
- Arrange medical, legal and other appointments and escort clients if necessary.
- Support life skills/training programs and assist in ensuring the mental health programme continues to be relevant to the needs of the participants and families.
- Deliver educational presentations to Assessment Phase Participants and provide orientation and induction for new participants, including required resources materials.
- Assist in ensuring access for participants /families to relevant services, support options both within TSA Network and external agencies and advocate as appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate client documentation, records, reporting and data collection. Prepare Participant and Program rosters as required and supervise and record participants' self-administration of medication as per Centre guidelines
- Ensure beds and bed areas are prepared for new admissions and supervise the maintenance, cleanliness and tidiness of the centre and ensure participants conform to the Code of Conduct.
- Supervise the delivery of testing for drug screen purposes as per guidelines and bring to the attention of the management any matter causing concern regarding the health or well being of the participants. Ensure an alcohol and drug free presence is maintained at all times.
The Selection Criteria: - A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army and an ability to offer pastoral assistance
- Qualifications within Mental Health, Community Services, Social Work or extensive relevant experience with a minimum of Certificate IV certifications
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Sound presentation and communication skills (both oral and written) including the ability to interact positively & resolve conflict with a variety of people
- Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour.
- Ability to acknowledge and support the individual rights, responsibilities and dignity of all Participants, including maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- 2+ years experience working in a community setting, particularly working with people with mental health issues
- Desirable that the successful applicants have an understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health issues
