High achieving transportable company who offer turkey operations is seeking a Design Manager to join the Perth office. They have a relatively small Perth office and large site. 2012 is already looking very strong as they've been able to pick up a good pipeline of work. Their main focus is the Mining and Oil & Gas sector although their also involved in commercial construction and government housing and accommodation.

This position has become available due to internal promotion so you'll get plenty of support from your predecessor. The existing team has significant experience in the WA market especially and enjoy a good work life balance. Their premises have good transportation links and local amenities. This is a great opportunity to join a company that's very stable, well respected and is gathering momentum.

Role and responsibilities:

• Support the design team
• Reading and interpreting drawings and plans
• Timely communication and progress reporting
• Ensuring accuracy, quality assurance and design compliance
• You will integrate design with construction methodology
• Manage design review and approvals and monitor design in progress
• Site visits (ad hoc)
• Problem solving and improving process
• Ensure that design meets fabrication production techniques
• Enhance design capabilities
• Contract / subcontract

Experience and qualifications:

• Design drafting experience is essential
• Leading a team and delegating work loads
• A good level of contractual and commercial awareness is advantageous
• Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
• Identifying potential problems
• Local experience in the WA market is advantageous
• Good communication - both written and verbal are necessary
