Our client is an expanding and highly reputable multi-disciplinary Engineering Group who is growing their business in the water and energy sectors and have recently taken on several projects and their local teams need support in design and project management.
As an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the management and co-ordination of elements of the project teams, including the technical quality of deliverables. You will need a strong understanding of all facets of municipal and industrial water and wastewater, as well as the following responsibilities:
- To act as the main engineer for elements of projects ensuring that multi-discipline design is coordinated and completed to program
- You will be competent in delivering mechanical engineering tasks on allocated projects to the correct standard, to program and within the allocated man hour budget
- You will ensure that technical problems on allocated projects are promptly resolved or referred to the project supervisors
- Carry out special projects as required by the Engineering Manager and other key management members
- Some business development will be required when you have the opportunity
You will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience working within expanded scope and professional services mechanical engineering on municipal and industrial water and waste water projects
- Proven capabilities in design and performance assessment, including the preparation of detailed design drawings, construction specifications and writing technical reports and communication
- Experience or aptitude for tender writing, client development, working in a team setting against tight timelines and other skills appropriate
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment and manage multidisciplinary teams
While the job is based in their Melbourne or Brisbane office, it will require the successful candidate to work on active sites controlling construction projects and as such the person may be out of the office during the day.
